Joining the Apex First Baptist Church Family

Joining AFBC by becoming a Candidate for Baptism

congreg Those who become believers and have not been baptized previously join as a candidate for baptism. Water baptism is a public affirmation of the commitment made in the heart to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Baptism at Apex First Baptist Church is complete immersion in water in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. Baptism is conducted on the first Sunday morning immediately following the conclusion of Sunday school. Baptized believers may take communion immediately and candidates for baptism participate in communion following their baptism experience. Communion service is held on the first Sundays of each month.

Joining AFBC based upon ones Christian Experience

Believers who have been baptized and held membership at another church, may join under Christian experience.

Joining AFBC as a Watch Care Member

The method used by baptized believers who are in the vicinity of the Church on a temporary basis such as a college student, a transferred employee or long term visiting family members or friends.

Joining AFBC based upon Letter

This method is when the believer presents a letter of introduction from his or her former church that is in support of his/her membership. The letter is usually written by a church leader who has knowledge of the joiner’s Christian walk.

Consistent with the vision of Apex First Baptist Church, our new members are asked to enroll in our new membership program. It consists of a curriculum that will help the newest member of our family become accustomed to his or her new church home. Whether you are a new Christian or a seasoned veteran in the army of the Lord, the new membership class will be a necessary element in broadening your awareness of Apex First Baptist church and its many areas. It takes approximately one month (four to five class meetings) to complete the new membership process. The New Membership class will take place during the Sunday school hour in the educational building. The chart below gives an overview of the courses in the program. After your matriculation through the new membership program, your pastor and church family will celebrate your new accomplishment at new membership graduation. This graduation takes place after Holy Communion (during the 11 a.m. worship service). After graduation, each new member receives the right hand of fellowship after the corporate reading of the church covenant. Each new member is encouraged to continue to embrace sound teaching offered during Sunday school each Sunday and pastoral teaching on Wednesday evenings from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m.
